alice.id.au - A Bus Conversion and Motorhome Web Resource

Meet the entire fleet - Alice the Bus and Barry LandcruiserWelcome to The Alice Project and the web pages of Keiran Lusk. This site was first published in 2002 to follow the progress of building my motorhome in Alice the Bus. The project took 12 months to complete and cost less than $15,000 - including the cost of all tools, fittings and the bus itself! Alice the Bus has since travelled through all states (except Tasmania and Western Australia) and is the perfect 'House on Wheels'. After six years parked 'semi-permanently' in a staff caravan park at Yulara (the resort township near Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park), Alice the Bus set sail again in early 2009. There have been a few mechanical repairs, a major investment in new tyres and a couple of new split systems installed for the adventure. It is wonderful to have the old bus back on the road again! Alice the Bus (and her owner) are currently re-discovering the Gold Coast area... after a long and slow journey from the desert to the sea.

Regular visitors to 'The Alice Project' may have noticed that the website has undergone some major renovations recently. The site has been completed upgraded. The Project Details section has been upgraded, with new photos and easier navigation. For a quick look at 'Alice the Bus' (including before and after construction photos), check out the new Photo Gallery section. Looking to buy a used RV, motorhome or bus? The Alice Project website now lists comprehensive sales lists for United States, United Kingdom and Australia.

There is a great sense of pride that comes from creating something like Alice the Bus. Family, friends and neighbours thought I was crazy when I told them I had purchased an old bus and was going to build a motorhome. And there were many times during the 12 month construction stage, where I certainly agreed with them and wondered why I had ever dreamed of accomplishing such a feat! It was definitely not an easy period of time and there were indeed many challenges and obstacles that had to be overcome. But completing this project remains one of the greatest achievements of my life. The Alice Project has shown me that with a little bit of careful planning, plenty of learning, a strong 'vision' and the occasional bout of energy. anything is possible!

Meet Alice the BusThis website contains many photographs and much information on my bus conversion project. It should be strongly noted however that my mechanical expertise and carpentry / handyman skills were absolutely minimal - prior to commencing this major project. These pages are intended purely to give some insight into the adventures of building your own 'house on wheels' and should not be regarded as 'instructional' or authoritative in any way.

Most of these pages and notes were written and published during 2002 and 2003, and the information contained in them may now be out of date. Please consult with the relevant authorities for current regulations and guidelines in your state.

'The Alice Project' would like to thank everyone who has contacted this website, for their continual support and interest. I hope that The Alice Project contains useful information for people with similiar 'crazy' dreams of buying an old bus and converting it into a beautiful yet functional motorhome. Happy reading and good luck with your very own project!

Cheers, Keiran Lusk.
